Nationally acclaimed artists 311, Slightly Stoopid and SOJA perform on University of Nevada, Reno campus

RENO, Nev. – The national Unity Tour 2012 concert stops off at Lawlor Events Center on Sunday, Sept. 2. The concert was previously planned to be held on the University of Nevada, Reno John Sala Intramural Field, but was moved to accommodate a larger crowd.

The Associated Students of University of Nevada (ASUN) and Battle Born Entertainment, LLC are sponsoring the concert. Doors open at 5 p.m. and SOJA will be the first performer at 5:45 p.m.

Unity Tour 2012 includes the bands of 311, Slightly Stoopid and SOJA, which will play 39 amphitheaters nationwide from July 8 through Sept. 5.

General admission tickets to the concert are $42 and VIP tickets are $68.50. Tickets are available online at protixonline.com. University of Nevada, Reno students can purchase tickets for the reduced rate of $30 at the Lawlor Box Office with a college ID.

This concert is one of the largest sponsored by ASUN. According to ASUN President Huili Weinstock, the student government plans to host several large events throughout the semester.

“Our programming focus is quality entertainment for students and community members,” Weinstock said. “We are excited to help sponsor such great artists.”

About 311, Slightly Stoopid and SOJA:
311 has developed a reputation as one of the most entertaining live bands in the United States. The celebratory live shows and dynamic recordings have earned the band a massive grassroots following and a catalog of modern rock hits, including “Down,” “All Mixed Up,” “Amber,” “Come Original,” “Beautiful Disaster,” “Love Song” and “Sunset in July.” Over the past several years, Unity Tour has included 311 with Snoop Dogg, The Offspring, Sublime with Rome, Matisyahu, The Wailers and The Roots.

A headliner since 2007, Slightly Stoopid’s annual summer amphitheater tours have been supported by Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Ozomatli, Sly & Robbie and Stephen Marley. The band has played at numerous venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Berkeley’s Greek Theater and New York City’s Central Park. Slightly Stoopid has also performed alongside acts including Dave Matthews Band, Damian Marley and The Roots.

Throughout the past few years, SOJA has sold more than 150,000 albums, headlined large theaters in more than 15 countries around the world, generated more than 20 million+ YouTube views, amassed more than a half-million Facebook fans and attracted an almost Grateful Dead-like international fan base that grows with each tour.
