In May 2020, we watched communities worldwide protest for justice following George Floyd’s murder. Nearly a year later, that justice has been served. The trial verdict signifies a step towards accountability. Our nation’s work toward social justice has just begun.
The Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) remain in solidarity with George Floyd and his family and with the Black community worldwide. We, as an Association, are committed to fostering a community built on justice and accountability. It is our duty as an Association to stand against systems of injustice and advocate for fair treatment of humanity.
To that end we are working with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to organize a reflective community gathering. Details will be shared soon. For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack. Together, we are stronger.
