Bio and Platform: Aween Ali is a first-year student, majoring in Computer Science and Engineering with a minor in Math and minor in Cybersecurity. She was raised in Canada and was a senate intern last semester. Aween is the vice president of the Muslim Student Association (MSA) and secretary of the UNR Taekwondo Club. During her free time, Aween loves to longboard, cook and of course, watch anime.
Being a former legislative intern, Aween has gained lots of experience and skills to help represent and advocate for the students on campus. Aween is determined to learn and understand the opinions, concerns, and voices of students within the College of Engineering. Aween can assess an issue affecting students and consider the possible solutions to implement with the proper research. Her empathy, quick problem solving and willingness to help makes her a suitable candidate.
If elected, Aween would like to advocate for underrepresented and misrepresented students on campus while also accommodating their needs. She would like to work towards improving the mental health resources on campus while making sure the resources are accessible to all. Aween also plans to be a representative that can properly voice the concerns of the College of Engineering. With her experience from the legislative internship and her passion to advocate, Aween is devoted to representing the students in her College as well as the campus.
