Bio and Platform: Quay Skankey (They/Them) is a junior and is majoring in Philosophy, and minoring in Political Science, and Sociology. With the experience of being an Eagle Scout, JRAFROTC cadet, and an ASUN Senate Intern, Quay is more than determined to make a change and improve their College of Liberal Arts home, as well as their UNR community. They believe that one of the largest problems facing students in the College of Liberal Arts is financial instability. After speaking with students who had personally experienced financial instability , Quay understands that marginalized communities tend to face this issue the most. This is why one of Quay's goals is to fund Residential Life, Housing, and Food Services more, as well as other underfunded departments, so they may be better equipped to help those students in need. As a transgender individual, Quay also knows the importance of representation and believes that the more voices that are heard, the better. For this reason, Quay intends to work hand in hand with I.D.E.A. (better known as Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility); Gender, Race, and Identity Club; and many other LGBTQIA+ organizations to bring as many new voices and opinions to the conversation. Quay is a force of sheer will and is ready to do whatever they can to make their UNR home the best for everyone. No matter what sexual orientation, gender, religion, or ethnicity, they believe everyone deserves the absolute best.
