Fayza Salah is a first-year student at UNR majoring in Neuroscience through the Honors College. She is passionate about attending medical school and pursuing a career as a physician as it will provide her with the incredible privilege of improving lives. Fayza is the Secretary of the University’s Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students and a member of the American Medical Student Association’s Civic Action Committee.
Another passion of Fayza’s is leadership and civic engagement. She has been a member of her schools’ governing body since the beginning of her educational career. In those years, she has held many leadership positions. Her most recent position was Student Body President of her high school. These roles have allowed her to refine her leadership, communication, and teamwork skills as well as further foster her passion for making a difference and improving her community. Fayza is currently a Senate Intern for the 89th Session. As an intern, she was able to gain a clear insight into the association’s workings as well as a good understanding of the Senate’s procedures.
Her principal goal as a senator, if elected, would be to elevate and promote student voices. As a first-generation college student, Fayza is keenly aware of the challenges faced by underrepresented groups on campus and is especially committed to advocating for their needs. She is excited to shape a culture of inclusivity, foster an open and accessible university environment, and make real change.
