Bio and Platform: Jason Issa, a first-year student from Reno, is studying Political Science and International Affairs. Seeking election to be your College of Liberal Arts (COLA) Senator, Jason wants to bring transparency, fiscal responsibility, and expanded opportunities to the student body.
If elected, Jason will prioritize fiscal responsibility and restraint, ensuring that student fees are used efficiently while protecting the student body from more fee increases. He is committed to increasing accessibility within ASUN by advocating for the opinions of his constituents, whether it be in the Rita Laden Senate Chambers or in front of the NSHE Board of Regents.
Jason is passionate about civic engagement and plans to increase voter participation and advocacy initiatives on campus. He aims to connect students with resources that empower them to play an active role in shaping Nevada’s future. His experience working with U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto’s office has strengthened his ability to engage with stakeholders and advocate for community needs, skills he will bring to the ASUN Senate.
Beyond the university, Jason plans to strengthen ASUN’s connections with stakeholders across Nevada to bring more resources and opportunities to students while reinforcing ASUN’s role in the community. This not only brings more resources to the campus community but also enhances the voices of the student body.
