ASUN Pack Grad School Fund
Supporting Graduate School Applications for Students In Need
The ASUN Pack Grad School Fund is an initiative by ASUN President Dawson Deal and Vice President Liesel Kemmelmeier of the 92nd Session under their Impact Nevada campaign. This pilot program supports current University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) undergraduate students by covering the cost of graduate school application fees for UNR Graduate School programs.
What is the Pack Grad School Fund?
This fund assists qualifying students with the financial burden of applying to a graduate program at UNR. The application fee waiver is embedded directly in the graduate school application and is available on a first-come, first-served basis for eligible students.
Funding Details
For the Spring 2025 pilot, the program has been allocated $6,000 to fund up to 100 graduate school applications.
- Fee Coverage: $60 for domestic students, $95 for international students
- Limit: One application fee waiver per student
Program Exclusions
For the Spring 2025 pilot, the program only covers graduate school programs administered by the Graduate School. This currently excludes M.D. and P.A. programs in the UNR School of Medicine.
Who is Eligible?
To qualify for this program, students must:
- Be a current undergraduate at UNR
- Be applying to a degree-seeking UNR graduate program (excluding certificates, licenses, and M.D. and P.A. programs)
- Demonstrate financial need through FAFSA or other institutional criteria
- Meet the minimum GPA requirement for the specific program (2.75 for Master’s, 3.0 for Doctoral programs)
- Not have received other graduate application fee waivers (e.g., GradStart, GradFIT)
How to Apply
No separate application is needed outside of your Graduate School application! When completing your UNR graduate school application, you will be prompted to apply for the ASUN Pack Grad School Fund fee waiver before the payment step.

Why This Initiative Matters
ASUN recognizes the financial challenges students face when pursuing higher education. By covering graduate application fees, this program helps ensure that financial barriers do not prevent students from working to continue their academic and professional journeys.
