Bio and Platform: Jason Issa is a born-and-raised Reno local, a first-generation American, and a sophomore studying Political Science and International Affairs who is running for re-election as your College of Liberal Arts Senator. Rooted in service, transparency, and a deep love for this campus, Jason believes student government should never be distant, performative, or closed off. It should work for students, openly and relentlessly.
During his time in the ASUN Senate, Jason has served in key leadership roles, including Chair of the Committee on Democratic Civic Engagement and Senate Parliamentarian, while also contributing as a member of the Committees on Oversight; Academics & Student Affairs; Budget & Finance; and the Special Committee on Food Insecurity. He also serves as ASUN’s liaison to Friends in Service Helping (FISH), the Faculty Senate, and the Office of Digital Learning, ensuring students’ voices are heard both on and off campus.
Jason has authored and passed impactful legislation, supporting UndocuPack, demanding clarity on the rollout of PACK AI, protecting public testimony in the Nevada Legislature, and strengthening and reforming internal ASUN procedures. Beyond legislation, he created Pack in Action, ASUN’s flagship day-of-service initiative, and continues working to keep Pack Provisions stocked with food for students facing insecurity. He is also actively advocating for Theatre & Dance students, pushing for medical benefits, improved accessibility through the Disability Resource Center, and long-overdue modernization of the Lombardi dance facilities.
Looking ahead, Jason’s re-election platform is built on five clear commitments:
1. Transparency, so students always know what ASUN is doing and why;
2. Advocacy, ensuring student concerns are represented at every level of government;
3. Building Bridges, by strengthening partnerships and expanding programs such as Pack Friendly Business statewide;
4. Civic Engagement, empowering students with the tools to participate, volunteer, and lead; and
5. Reform, continuing the work of making ASUN more ethical, efficient, accountable, and worthy of student trust.
Jason is running to keep fighting for students, to keep asking hard questions, and to keep building a student government that truly belongs to all of us. Issa ‘bout time we get things done!
