Bio and Platform: Edmund Cain is a sophomore Geological Engineering major in the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering and member of the College of Science. He wants to make sure student voices are heard when it comes to decisions that shape campus life. His main goal is to foster a deeper connection between the departments in the College of Science. His unique position as a member of the Mackay School allows him to see how things operate in the larger College of Science, as well as its specific departments.


One of Edmund’s main goals is helping every student access a clear path to professional and academic opportunities. After applying for and participating in a National Science Foundation Undergraduate Research Experience, Edmund saw the impact of these opportunities. He is committed to expanding awareness and access to research programs, internships and academic support services for all students. Edmund also hopes to foster a stronger sense of community within the College of Science by encouraging collaboration across majors and departments.


Edmund has a strong background in Geology, Environmental Science, and Engineering, He has researched slurry mixtures and published a research paper on the topic and also led a project in conjunction with the US Fish and Wildlife Service to repopulate endangered fish in the Colorado River. Through these roles, he has learned how to be accountable and lead with a focus on service. Edmund is excited to bring that same reliability to the Senate.
