Bio and Platform: Ivan Strunk is a Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and currently serves as the ASUN Senator for the College of Engineering. Dedicated to leadership defined by empathy and transparency, Ivan understands that students are more than just their GPA, having consistently balanced his own academic goals with high-level professional responsibilities.
Ivan’s platform is rooted in real-world experience. With a background in multiple internship and research roles, he understands the challenges of transitioning from the classroom to the workforce and is running for re-election to ensure every student feels represented and supported.
Bridging the Gap:
A central initiative of Ivan’s term is the Student Advisory Board, created to bridge the gap between engineering students and ASUN. Ivan believes that empowering diverse student voices in decision-making is the only way to ensure the college evolves alongside its student body.
Championing Professional Success:
Ivan believes higher education must prepare students for careers. He advocates for transparency in internship applications and networking events accessible to all students, not just the select few. He is also committed to highlighting smaller technical societies, ensuring every niche community has the resources to thrive.
Expanded Mentorship:
Having served as a mentor for incoming students, Ivan noticed support often drops off after freshman year. He advocates for expanding mentorship to support sophomores and juniors, when coursework is heaviest, creating a peer-to-peer system where upperclassmen guide students through academic hurdles and career transitions.
