Bio and Platform: Atera Frankl is a first-year Biochemistry and Neuroscience student at University of Nevada, Reno, committed to representing the interests of students within the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources (CABNR). Through leadership and community involvement both in Reno and her hometown of Henderson, Nevada, Atera has focused on fostering collaboration, accessibility, and experiential learning among peers. Her experience with research projects, student organizations, and service initiatives has shaped a platform centered on academic support, professional development, and student advocacy.
Before beginning college, Atera volunteered in a civil engineering laboratory at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, at her temple’s Sunday School, and participated in student organizations such as Key Club, Hope Squad, the Wishing Crane Club, and the Environmental Club. Since beginning her time at UNR, Atera has volunteered with Girls on the Run and through several events with her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. Academically, she has demonstrated the ability to manage a rigorous course load while also balancing these extracurricular roles, having completed and passed fourteen Advanced Placement courses in high school, and are currently participating in the Honors Mentorship Program while pursuing the PREP Research Award.
Atera’s platform prioritizes providing students with opportunities to grow and diversify their academic and professional portfolios, including expanded access to research programs, awards, and internships through informative mixers. She aims to ensure these opportunities are accessible to underrepresented students and those facing financial challenges to create an environment where all students can not only succeed, but thrive.
Finally, Atera emphasizes transparency and accountability, with the goal of maintaining open communication through listening sessions, surveys, and consistent event promotions. Her platform highlights service, collaboration, and giving students resources to progress their collegiate careers in hopes of strengthening CABNR’s student engagement and ensure that every student voice is represented and valued within the ASUN government.
