She grew up surrounded by trees, where she was surrounded by various animals, including many chickens, dogs, and a rescued macaw.
To further her pursuits for leadership and love of animals, she joined the Associated Students of the University of Nevada this past fall as an intern. She was placed in the department of sustainability where she was able to participate in campus initiatives such as the monthly trash pick up and farmers market. Through her work with the Department of Sustainability, Kalia gained experience collaborating with students and campus partners to support initiatives promoting environmental responsibility and community engagement. She also believes in creating sustainability practices that are affordable, accessible, and easy for busy college students to fit into their lives.
Kalia’s platform focuses on helping students succeed by increasing communication, accessibility, and transparency within student government as well as advocating for sustainability practices that support students both now and in the future. She is committed to making sure her constituents feel heard by actively listening, amplifying student voices, and making sure that students are aware of what is going on within ASUN so they can make informed decisions that reflect what they want and need.
Kalia hopes to serve as an approachable and reliable representative for everyone in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. She will contribute thoughtfully to a campus environment where students are supported, informed, and heard.
