Bio and Platform: Ivana Gavrilovic is a dedicated Neuroscience student committed to improving accessibility and opportunity within the College of Science. Her platform centers on strengthening first-generation representation and increasing awareness of existing campus resources. As a first-generation student herself, she recognizes the challenges many students face and aims to expand visibility and collaboration with programs such as First in the Pack, TRIO, and the Golden Scholars. She also advocates for College of Science–specific first-generation mentorship initiatives focused on graduate school preparation, internships, research opportunities, and academic guidance.
Beyond first-generation initiatives, Ivana emphasizes the importance of service as both a community contribution and a means of professional and personal development. She supports expanding outreach and creating more accessible volunteer opportunities both on and off campus through ASUN partnerships and student organizations. Having maintained a long-standing commitment to service in her Reno community, she hopes to encourage student involvement through practical initiatives such as STEM tool drives for items like lab coats, calculators, and modeling kits.
Ivana also prioritizes professional exposure for science students by promoting guest speakers, alumni panels, and small symposium-style events that connect students with professionals in their fields of interest.
Central to her platform is an emphasis on student collaboration and open communication. Ivana believes meaningful change comes from listening to the student body and is committed to maintaining accessible channels for feedback through forums, surveys, and direct engagement. Her goal is to ensure that College of Science students feel represented, supported, and actively involved in shaping their academic community.
