Bio and Platform: A Reno resident, Vivienne Pecka, is a member of the Honors College and College of Liberal Arts. Vivienne is a first-year student at the University and enjoys getting involved in the many events hosted by the university and wishes to further support such initiatives when elected to the senate. Vivienne is interested in the promotion of all matters of events, from the smallest game nights all the way up to the big events that cemented themselves as UNR traditions. She intends to invest beyond the events themselves, but rather in the people who dedicate themselves. She intends to listen to the people who dedicate themselves to fostering the communities of UNR, bolstering their voices and opinions to best support and understand the diverse student body's needs.
Vivienne intends to expand the amount of information available to incoming and current students within the honors college, as she believes that no student should miss out on opportunities due to confusion or intimidation. She intends to foster a sense of confidence within the Honors College student body and the space where students can be bold enough to pursue new things and gain experiences outside of their major.
Vivienne's goals are attention, information, and exploration within the university, calling for the expansion of events and opportunities where students can learn and explore different careers and causes. She will work towards the expansion of the mentorship program and advocate for funding to bring a diverse range of speakers so that students can be exposed to a wide range of different perspectives. Vivienne will also advocate for additional funding to go into scholarships aimed at providing opportunities for students to expand their horizons, from study abroad to academic scholarships. Vivienne is here to support opportunity. She is here to listen to the student body when it comes to their needs and struggles within the community, whether it's trouble academically, socially, or mentally, she is here to listen. Vivienne wants to be the support you need so you can be not only successful, but thoughtful, confident, and secure.
