Scholarships
ASUN offers a variety of services to students including an accounting department, advertising, the ASUN bookstore, campus escort, Inkblot marketing, scholarships, legal services, and sound and lights.
ASUN awards over $150,000 in scholarships each year to students at the University of Nevada, Reno. The money for these scholarships are funded by the ASUN Nevada Wolf Shop, your student owned store. Without your support of the student owned store these scholarships would not be possible.
Requirements:
1. By February 1st of each year, to be eligible for any of the below scholarships, continuing University students must complete the scholarship application in MyNEVADA Login and go to Student Center, Supplemental Forms, Graduate and Undergraduate Scholarship Application.
2. To be eligible for consideration for scholarships which require financial need, by March 1 annually students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.ed.gov and include federal school code 002568; University of Nevada, Reno, Reno, NV. Students not eligible to complete the FAFSA (such as international students or students with DACA status), may complete the Financial Aid Calculation for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students form by March 1 annually
Recipients who are selected will be notified by email after July 1st each year and amounts will show up in recipients in the MyNevada financial aid package.

ASUN Day Care Scholarship
Three $1,000 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Recognizes a need for day care financial support.
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Financial Aid Calculation for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students form by March 1 annually
- 2.5 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Undergraduate Student Status
- Currently Enrolled in 12 Credits or More
ASUN General Student Scholarship
Five $1,000 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Based primarily on need. Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno, and involvement are secondary considerations.
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Financial Aid Calculation for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students form by March 1 annually
- 2.5 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Undergraduate Student Status with Junior standing
- Currently Enrolled in 12 Credits or More
ASUN Governor Guinn ASUN Scholarship
Five $1,500 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Based upon the applicant’s involvement in the campus and local community as well as adequate demonstration of need.
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Financial Aid Calculation for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students form by March 1 annually
- 2.75 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Undergraduate Student Status
- Currently Enrolled in 12 Credits or More
ASUN John Mackay Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Based upon the applicant’s involvement in the campus and local community as well as adequate demonstration of need.
History: This scholarship is being established to honor John William Mackay, an Irish emigrant from Dublin, Ireland, who came to Virginia City in 1859. He became know as one of the Bonanza Kings that struck it rich from silver mining. He was very charitable but it was his own son, Clarence Hungerford Mackay that became the University’s first major benefactor.
2013 marked the 100 years of Mackay celebration that began with Mackay Day, to Mackay Week and now Mackay Month. ASUN spearheaded this scholarship to honor the Mackay family. Donations are taken at events all year to help fund this scholarship.

ASUN John Wright International Incentive Scholarship
Three $500 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Recognizes promotion of foreign cultures at UNR or an interest in international affairs. Consideration based on:
1. Promotion of foreign cultures at UNR (60%)
2. Interest in international issues (25%)
3. Cumulative GPA and class standing (15%)
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- 2.5 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Undergraduate Student Status
- Currently Enrolled in 12 Credits or More
ASUN Mike Hendi Public Service Scholarship
One $1000 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Based on applicant’s promotion of community spirit, public service, and quest to make the university a safer learning environment.
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- 2.5 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Undergraduate Student Status
- Currently Enrolled in 12 Credits or More
ASUN Nevada Student Leader Scholarship
Five $1,000 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Based upon the applicant’s involvement in the campus and local community as well as his demonstration of leadership skills, through participation in diverse activities, including, but not limited to, on-campus volunteer work, leadership roles in ASUN clubs, organizations and government activities, leadership roles in individual college-based, academic, or extra-curricular activities.
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- 3.0 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Undergraduate Student Status
- Currently Enrolled in 12 Credits or More
ASUN Nontraditional Student Scholarship
Three $1000 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Recognizes students 25 years of age or older. Based primarily on need.
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Financial Aid Calculation for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students form by March 1 annually
- At Least 25 Years Old
- 2.5 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Undergraduate Student Status
- Currently Enrolled in 12 Credits or More
ASUN Part-time Student Scholarship
Two $500 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria:Based primarily on need. Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno, and involvement are secondary considerations.
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Financial Aid Calculation for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students form by March 1 annually
- 2.5 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Undergraduate Student Status
- Currently Enrolled in At Least 7 Credits and No More Than 11 Credits
ASUN Paul Quinlan Memorial Scholarship
Five $1000 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Merit-based scholarship based on unselfish, active involvement at UNR and within the community as a whole.
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- 2.75 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Undergraduate Student Status
- Currently Enrolled in 9 Credits or More
ASUN Senator Raggio ASUN Scholarship
Five $1,500 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Based upon the applicant’s academic achievements, participation in university activities, as well as adequate demonstration of need
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Financial Aid Calculation for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students form by March 1 annually
- 3.25 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Undergraduate Student Status
- Currently Enrolled in 12 Credits or More
ASUN Student with a Disability Scholarship
Two $1,000 scholarships awarded
Scholarship Criteria: Recognizes student with a disability. Based primarily on need.
Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno, and involvement are secondary considerations.
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Financial Aid Calculation for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students form by March 1 annually
- 2.5 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno

ASUN Tom Davies Scholarship
Five $1,000 scholarships awarded
Scholarship Criteria: Based primarily on need. Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno, and involvement are secondary considerations.
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Financial Aid Calculation for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students form by March 1 annually

ASUN Unity Scholarship
Five $1,000 scholarships awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Based on the applicant’s involvement in the campus and local community in unity and diversity activities as well as adequate demonstration of need.
Requirements:
- Completed the University Scholarship form found in MyNevada by February 1 annually
- Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Financial Aid Calculation for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students form by March 1 annually
- 2.5 Cumulative GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Undergraduate Student Status

Queer Student Union Scholarship
One $1,500 scholarship awarded.
Scholarship Criteria: Recognizes a need for financial support. Recipients shall have made positive impacts on the LGBTIQ community.
History:
The UNR Queer Student Union (QSU) established this scholarship in 2009 to assist individuals, regardless of sexual orientation or gender, who have made positive impacts on the LGBTIQ community. This scholarship is a direct result of the cooperation between students, faculty and community member in reaching for equality for all. The QSU is a social and political organization that seeks to promote the acceptance and understanding of LGBTIQ individuals, as well as support the development and progression of a safe, open community.
Requirements:
