Calling All Student Artists And Researchers: We Need Your Help!

Nevada State Undergraduate Research Journal text over blue background with ASUN logoThe Nevada State Undergraduate Research Journal (NSURJ) was founded by ASUN in 2011 to offer a platform for all Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) students to submit their research. Being published in a research journal is a highly competitive process. Most research journals do not often give undergraduate students the ability or resources to produce content that is reputable for journal publication. NSURJ recognizes this difficulty and strives to provide a platform that allows all current undergraduate NSHE students the opportunity to submit their research and further their careers.

What is so great about the NSURJ is the wide range of topics they publish. Students are allowed to submit any topic of research that pertains to their interdisciplinary studies. Previous research that has been published include topics on immigration, gender studies, exoplanet detection, habitat restoration efforts, and much more. This gives all majors a chance to participate and will support student research regardless of the field application. The mission of NSURJ is dedicated to supporting students and creating a competitive research environment by furthering and expanding student research opportunities.

Currently, NSURJ is accepting research submissions for Volume 6 of their research journal. The deadline for submission is Friday, February 14, 2020. Submissions received after this deadline will be considered for a later volume. The journal also accepts submissions year-round. You can visit the article submissions page for more information on submissions, research format, and how the review process works.

If design is more your forte, NSURJ is also running a cover competition. They are looking for artists to create a cover design for future editions of their journals. Cover art should be centered around a Nevada theme, be modern with color, and remain professionally creative. Previous artwork has always featured the state of Nevada in a different way while also incorporating features that relate to the wilderness of Nevada. Submissions should also have the ASUN logo on the front or back piece of the covers. Artists are encouraged to be bold and different, and you can also submit more than one piece for consideration. Up to three artists may be chosen and given a $100 dollar spending allowance at the ASUN Nevada Wolf Shop! The deadline for this competition is January 21, 2019. To learn more about the cover competition and its guidelines, visit the cover competition page.
