Bio and Platform: Andy Sanchez is a sophomore Biology major in the College of Science. He joined the Associated Students of the University of Nevada in Fall 2025 as an intern and was later placed in the Department of Sustainability, where he gained hands-on experience supporting campus initiatives and collaborating with current officers.
Andy’s platform centers on advancing student success through engagement, accessibility, and professional development. He is particularly interested in supporting the College of Science’s goals related to education, outreach, and student involvement. Andy believes increasing awareness of academic resources, expanding mentorship opportunities, and strengthening connections between students and faculty are essential to improving academic success. He is passionate about supporting initiatives that align with the College of Science’s focus on inclusive education, professional preparation, and student-centered learning.
Through his work with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Andy gained valuable experience in leadership, teamwork, and community engagement while supporting research efforts and patient advocacy. He also served as a student teacher in a sixth grade environmental science class at SWOPE Middle School, where he developed a deeper understanding of education and the importance of fostering curiosity and accessibility in science. Additionally, his experience working as a medical assistant and scribe at Spine Institute of Nevada allowed him to engage directly with patients and healthcare professionals, strengthening his communication skills and reinforcing the importance of service.
Andy believes optimism plays a key role in leadership and personal growth. He hopes to bring that same dedication and commitment to the College of Science Senate.
