Bio and Platform: Grace McAndrews is a dedicated student at the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in Rangeland Ecology and Management with a Statistics minor. Since joining the University, she has immersed herself in the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources (CABNR), beginning as an employee in a Range Ecologist Lab, advancing to president of the Range Club in 2023. She helped establish, the Department of Agriculture, Veterinary, and Range Sciences (AVRS) outreach program AVRS ambassadors. Additionally, McAndrews conducted research in Sri Lanka, supported by the Honors College and the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources faculty.
With extensive experience in student-led initiatives, McAndrews is uniquely positioned to enrich the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources student experience. Her platform is centered on building a vibrant student community, enhancing student engagement, and tailoring the educational environment to meet student needs. Her involvement across various departments of the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources provides her with insights for students desired improvements.
As senator, McAndrews aims to strengthen the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources community by promoting the significance of student organizations, facilitating inter-club events, and increasing their visibility to the broader student body for enhanced professional development. She advocates for maintaining the university's Main Station livestock operation, crucial hands-on learning and research. Committed to budget transparency, McAndrews seeks to ensure clubs are well-informed about available resources, maximizing benefits across the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Natural Resources.
