Bio and Platform: Jonathan Dayton is a first-year materials science major in the college of engineering. He is a member of the men's ultimate frisbee team, Material Advantage Club, and the Pride of the Sierra Marching band. His hobbies include going to the gym, hiking, reading web novels, and discovering new recipes. Within his college, Jonathan plans to work with faculty and administration to revise and improve the curriculum for ENGR 100 to better represent all majors. For ASUN as a whole, Jonathan values diversity and plans to serve on the committee of IDEA (Department of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) to encourage student safety on campus, regardless of their background. Additionally, Jonathan will address recent tuition increases and fight for ways to lower cost of attendance.
Jonathan has 6 years of tutoring experience and currently works as a tutor in the math center. His experience simplifying complex concepts and working with students from diverse backgrounds translates neatly to the role of a senator, as he has a unique capacity to connect with others and bring them along. Jonathan is a member of the Honors College and made the Dean’s list for Fall 2025. As an honors student, he wants to work with the office of undergraduate fellowships to spread awareness of competitive scholarship opportunities to students outside of the honors college.
