Bio and Platform: Ryan Hartley is a first-generation, LGBTQIA2S+, veteran (USN), transfer student who is double majoring for a BA Theatre and BA Dance degree. After achieving his double associates degree in theatre arts and liberal arts at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, California, Ryan took a gap year exploring Western Europe for eight months before traveling to Reno to attend UNR starting Fall 2024.

During his travels, time-in service and education within the theatre community, Ryan quickly learned the necessity of adaptability, open-mindedness, collaboration, community and investment in his peers. He believes that home is wherever you put your heart; the vessel that contains ones’ motivations, peers, loved ones, hopes and dreams.

Ryan has decided to place his heart with the University of Nevada- Reno. Ryan is a current ASUN Senate intern who brought to the Senate table a bill that bridges the communication gap between the student body and ASUN Senators via Canvas. Additionally, his legislation project was formed along the basis of prioritizing the basic needs of student life via a resolution to expand Pack Provisions.

Ryan Hartley believes that every student should be able to pursue their hopes, dreams and education feeling safe, focused, motivated and supported. He is an active listener when it comes to the opinions and needs of the student body and a dynamic representative in finding creative ways to meet those necessities.

Ryan Hartley pursues safety, student civic engagement, support of student basic needs, proactive communication and a nurturing community at the University of Nevada- Reno.
