Bio and Platform: As an ASUN Senator, Sidney Horst will listen to student voices directly, and speak to administration not only as an individual, but also as a part of the Nevada community. She is a native Nevadan, and has lived in Reno almost her entire life. She enjoys advocating for her fellow students and becoming a support pillar for change while also enjoying her favorite activities like playing soccer, hiking, and spending time with her cat!
As of late, there has been negative alterations to student life, and it has had an impact on the overall health of the university. With tuition prices rising, lack of parking affordability, and the disconnect between administration and students, there have been a lot of unfavorable impacts to the value and quality of our university. It is important to bridge these gaps, create a conversation rather than a debate, and advocate for students. Due to high tension climates, students who are part of the most vulnerable populations need to have their voices heard.
With her position, Sidney will not only find ways to speak up for her constituents and their opinions, but she will also stand for the change that needs to happen on our campus that we call home. During these times of uncertainty, it is important to rely on student leaders, and speak to them directly.
As an ASUN senator, Sidney will be able to learn from her fellow students and implement the changes necessary in order to protect the students at Nevada.
