Viviana Castro

Position: College of Liberal Arts (4 Senate Seats)
Email: vmc007iv@gmail.com
Academic College: College of Liberal Arts
Expected Date of Graduation: 05/06/2028
Bio and Platform: Viviana Castro is a Latina first generation student and American. Born in Los Angeles to a working class family, and being raised in Carson City, Nevada- Viviana is no foreigner to isolation and misrepresentation.

During her time as an ASUN Senator, Viviana has worked for greater campus accessibility, fought for the protection of migrant students on campus, and advocated for easier access to institutions such as ASUN.

As the world around campus grows scarier and more expensive, students require representation invested in their needs, wants, and experiences. Viviana is that representation. She offers no false promises or lofty campaign goals, just her voice- and the promise to advocate for students to her fullest extent.

In the 93rd session, Viviana worked as chair of the Committee on DEI to ensure continued support and protection for students affected by the baseless attacks of the Trump Administration. If elected to serve again, Viviana will dedicate her time to further enshrining the rights of women, migrants, and people of color at the University of Nevada-Reno.

In her free time, Viviana enjoys playing video games (currently playing the Last of Us Part 2, for the nth time), listening to music (Ranging from Bad Bunny to Hozier), and watching The Pitt and Heated Rivalry.

Viviana Castro is running for the people who can’t, because government is for everyone, not just those who can afford it, student government included.

If not elected, Viviana will continue to advocate for her peers and self.
