Voter Registration Week 2022

Posted on Tuesday, September 13, 2022

Hey, Wolf Pack!

Midterm elections are rapidly approaching! Participating in the midterm elections is one of the best ways you can impact the composition of the state legislature, the policymaking process, and the political makeup of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Regardless of political affiliation, it’s imperative that you use this opportunity to get your voice out there.

To help simplify the process of registration (and make it an enjoyable experience!), ASUN is hosting events all next week. These events will educate you on the importance of voting, get you registered to vote, and empower you to be an active citizen. We hope to see you there!

Spill the “Boba” Tea

On Monday, September 19th, 2022, ASUN Government Affairs and the Asian Community Development Council will be spilling the tea on voting! Meet us at the KC Breezeway at 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. for some free boba tea while learning about the significance of voting. You’ll even be able to register to vote at the event!

Cereal for STEM

STEM students, take some time out of your busy mornings for some free breakfast! On Thursday, September 22nd, 2022, at 10 – 11:30 a.m., the Department of Government Affairs will be holding a cereal buffet at the David Mathematics and Science Center Plaza. As STEM students, your voice matters now more than ever, so we’d love to hear it at this event!

Pie the President

On Friday, September 23rd, 2022, at 11:30am-2 p.m. join us at the plaza between Nye and Canada Hall for our Pie the President event! Come register to vote and also get a chance to pie the ASUN president in the face. There will be members of ASUN ready and willing to assist students with registering.

If you don’t have a Nevada state ID, you must register in-person. If you do have a Nevada state ID, you can register in-person, online or at the voting location.

If you’re registering in-person, you can do it at at the Center for Student Engagement, 3rd Floor of the Joe Crowley Student Union or at one of the previously listed events.

If you’re registering online at Secretary of State website, you must have the following:

Nevada Driver’s License/ID Card.

Last four digits of your Social Security number.

Continuously resided in your Nevada county at 30 days before the date of the election.

Continuously resided in your precinct at least 10 days before the date of election.

Nevada has in-person same day registration at any voting or early voting site if you have a Nevada Driver’s License or Nevada ID. You might also be asked to provide proof of residency.

If you’re registering to vote in your home state and want to find the deadline to do that, start by going to vote.gov. Select your state/territory and click “find out how to register.” This will take you to state/territory-specific voter registration information. Each state has different deadlines for registering and asking for an absentee ballot.

Being civically engaged is the responsibility of all U.S. citizens, so make sure you’re registered and educated on what you’re voting on. See you at the polls, Wolf Pack!
